A certified registered nurse anaesthetist or just “nurse anaesthetist” is an advanced practice registered nurse who administers anaesthesia and other medications. They also take care of and monitor people who receive or are recovering from anaesthesia. Anaesthesia is a medical treatment that keeps you from feeling pain during procedures or surgery. The perianesthesia nurse's major purpose is to provide professional and efficient care to patients and their families who are having an anaesthetic event. This treatment can be delivered in a traditional context, such as a hospital, or in a non-traditional setting, such as a doctor's office. A Perianesthesia nurse can provide treatment anywhere a patient can get anaesthesia, from light sedation to general anaesthesia
